Richard Ekins, Head of Policy Exchange’s Judicial Power Project, appeared before the House of Commons Defence Committee to discuss investigations in Northern Ireland into fatalities involving British military personnel during the Troubles. Professor Ekins outlined the options available to Government for helping avoid the reopening of cases unlikely to involve fresh evidence. Professor Ekins appeared alongside Professor Kieran McEvoy (Queen’s University Belfast), Professor Peter Rowe (Lancaster University), and Professor Philippe Sands QC (University College London).
