What do we want from the next Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police?

Public confidence in the Met is at its lowest since records began, levels of crime detection are at rock bottom and there has been a significant increase in confrontational protests on the streets of London. With the Home Secretary in the process of appointing a new Commissioner, Policy Exchange is hosting a panel discussion exploring what is needed from the next head of the Met.

Our distinguished panel of discussants includes William J Bratton CBE, Former Police Commissioner NYPD and LAPD, Executive Chairman Teneo Risk; Fiona Hill CBE, Former Joint Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister and Home Secretary; Sir Trevor Phillips, former Chair of the Greater London Authority, and former Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission; Lord Stevens of Kirkwhelpington QPM, former Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police. The discussion will be Chaired by Lord Godson, Director of Policy Exchange.
