Policy Exchange’s John Bew discusses ‘the eclipse of the West’ in his cover story for the New Statesman

 

In her foreign policy speech in Philadelphia, the Prime Minister talked about the need to counter the idea of the ‘eclipse of the west’ in a challenging era of international affairs, and the rising power of Asia. This is the theme of John Bew’s long essay in the New Statesman, titled The Eclipse of the West, which was published that morning. It argues that it is time to ‘end the fin de siecle angst’ about Western decline and that Britain must be ‘present at the creation’ of any new international order.
