Policy Exchange’s Hannah Stuart responds to huge surge in counter-terror hotline tip-offs

Aug 18, 2017

Hannah Stuart — Policy Exchange’s Co-Head of Security and Extremism — responds to new figures which suggest counter-terror agencies have registered a 600% surge in tip-offs after the recent attacks in Manchester and London. She says:

“It was not surprising that rises in the number of calls correspond to recent terrorist attacks. Community-based intelligence is vital in tackling terrorism and in some cases has successfully prevented imminent attacks. Unprecedented numbers of individuals of concern to the security services in the UK right now means the task of identifying serious leads is a real challenge.”

Her comments were featured in the Mail Online and The Independent, as well as ITV’s Good Morning Britain, BBC radio 5 live, Sky radio and Magic FM.
