Ben Ramanauskas joined Policy Exchange as a Senior Research Fellow in Economics in February 2025. He has previously worked as a Research Economist at the University of Oxford, first at the Blavatnik School of Government where he worked on a project entitled ‘Capitalism in Society’ where he researched topics such as inequality, trade, and social mobility and then the Said Business School where he focussed on how complex financial products contributed towards causing the Global Financial Crisis.
He has also worked for the UK Government. He was an Economic Policy Adviser to the Secretary of State for International Trade where he helped to oversee policy development in advanced manufacturing, financial services, technology, and the environment. While in this role he also worked on the trade negotiations between the UK and Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. He also oversaw the work of the Board of Trade and the negotiations for a Digital Economy Agreement with Singapore on behalf of the Secretary of State. He also had brief stints at the Department of Health and Social Care where he worked on reforming the healthcare system and at HM Treasury where his focus was on improving public sector productivity.
He has also worked for a number of different think tanks and in the Financial Services Sector. He has undergraduate and advanced degrees in law and economics.
