Policy Exchange is delighted to welcome Susan Emmett as the new Head of our Housing and Urban Regeneration Unit. She will be working closely with Richard Blakeway, who is the Unit’s Chief Adviser.
Susan said:
“I’m delighted to be joining Policy Exchange, which has such a strong track record of proposing innovative solutions to public policy issues. No issue is more pressing than the need for more good quality housing. I look forward to working with Ric Blakeway and the team to deliver fresh ideas that are practical, pragmatic and bring together key players across the development industry, public sector and government.”
Susan has 20 years experience of analysing, writing about and commenting on housing and the UK property market. Most recently she was director of residential property at Savills, an international real estate company, where she worked with a team of 30 to deliver insight into property development, planning, regeneration and housing policies. Before joining Savills, Susan was deputy property editor at The Times, where she launched the award-winning Bricks and Mortar property section.
In particular, her report Public Land: Unearthing Potential, prompted the compiling of the so-called “Domesday book” of all brownfield public land in London.
As a regular presenter and media commentator, she has spoken at a number of major conferences, appeared on R4 Today, BBC News and Sky and is a recognised voice in the UK property industry.
