Renewable energy has now overtaken coal as the world’s biggest source of power-generating capacity. Clean energy costs are tumbling, while the potential for industry growth is rapidly expanding. Britain has been at the forefront of developing this technology.

The world is catching on. China, for example, is working towards becoming a green energy superpower, with huge investments in solar. India is making strides in their development of wind power. And Ireland has voted to become the first country to divest completely from fossil fuels.

Meanwhile, the UK is in danger of falling behind. There is more that the Government can do to recognise the huge business opportunity and enable the UK clean economy to grow. As well as the economic benefits, this is the right thing to do to protect the world we live in for future generations.

In this talk, Tim Farron MP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, gave his assessment of the UK clean energy sector and put forward the steps the Liberal Democrats will take to work towards a zero-carbon Britain.
