Health and Social Care

Health and Social Care Unit

The Health and Social Care Unit at Policy Exchange explores the most pressing questions facing the NHS and social care sector, and places the needs of NHS patients and consumers, rather than producers, at the forefront of the national conversation.

From seeking a viable solution to long-term social care, examining how innovation could reduce waiting times or looking at how new hospitals can facilitate more integrated and preventative forms of healthcare, our work looks for solutions to ensure the advantages of a single-payer service are realised. We also explore how Britain can boost its credentials as a life sciences and healthcare superpower.

A quarter of Government expenditure in public services is now invested in the NHS. These costs are expected to rise further still as the service grapples with an ongoing public health crisis, restricted access to care and an ageing population meaning it has never been more important to ensure that additional investment delivers on public expectations. Throughout all our work we seek to ensure the delivery of health and care services becomes more transparent and accountable.
