Big data: the public sector is still lagging behind

Synopsis

"A report earlier this year by think-tank Policy Exchange claimed that big data analytics could save the public sector between £16bn and £33bn annually. This is equivalent to between 2.5 per cent and 4.3 per cent of the government's total budget. Big data presents a significant untapped resource for the public sector. If the UK is to see these predictions become a reality however,  there are some basics that need to be addressed from the outset."
